Tips Sukses Mengikuti Pameran atau Bazaar

Mengikuti pameran merupakan cara yang paling efektif untuk memperoleh tambahan jumlah pembeli. Bayangkan, pameran sekelas Inacraft bisa mendapat kunjungan tak kurang dari 125.000 pengunjung lokal dan 793buyers dari 74 negara (catatan tahun 2008). Sedangkan Jakarta Fair tahun 2007 dikunjungi 2.579.000 orang. Mustahil tak satu pun dari ribuan bahkan jutaan orang tersebut yang tidak mampir ke stan Anda bukan?

Karena itu, pilihlah pameran yang paling tepat untuk mengetahui peluang pasar untuk produk Anda. Untuk mengikuti pameran berskala besar di Jakarta Convention Centre atau di SMESCO, tentu Anda harus mengetahui kapasitas produksi Anda. Bila kapasitas produksi Anda belum cukup besar, Anda dapat mengikuti bazaar yang banyak digelar di gedung-gedung perkantoran atau di pusat dagang seperti ITC.

Mempersiapkan pameran
Mengingat banyaknya kompetitor di ajang pameran dagang, sudah seharusnya Anda mempersiapkan dengan baik partisipasi Anda. Carilah informasi mengenai bazaar atau pameran yang akan diadakan di suatu tempat jauh-jauh hari sebelumnya. Hubungi penyelenggara pameran untuk mengetahui persyaratan yang diperlukan.

Menurut Doddy Hidayat, Ketua ASEPHI (Asosiasi Eksportir dan Produsen Handicraft Indonesia) untuk wilayah DKI Jakarta, booking stan pada fair organizer biasanya sudah harus Anda lakukan 10-12 bulan sebelum pameran. Hal-hal yang perlu Anda perhatikan saat mem-booking stan antara lain:
•Memilih lokasi stan yang strategis, misalnya di hoek.
•Membuat desain stan yang menarik.
•Menyewa seorang professional decorator atau professional displayer. Anda bisa meminta foto-foto stan yang pernah mereka kerjakan untuk mengetahui hasil kerja mereka.
•Peluang potongan harga untuk stan dengan menjadi anggota asosiasi dagang tertentu yang sesuai produk Anda.

Sekitar 3-6 bulan sebelum pameran, siapkan bahan promosi dan publikasi, seperti kartu nama, katalog produk dan daftar harga, flyer, website, direct mailing, undangan, press kit, brosur, banner, stiker, termasuk cindera mata untuk pengunjung. Komunikasikan juga rencana kehadiran Anda di pameran.

"Anda harus punya website, karena ini penting untuk menambah image perusahaan Anda. Atau membuat account di situs-situs jejaring sosial. Facebook itu kan sekarang menjadi kekuatan baru di dunia pemasaran," ujar Doddy.

Pada tahap ini Anda juga perlu menjalin kerjasama dengan fair organizer, dengan cara mengirim data perusahaan,press release, dan trade press, serta mengirimkan profil perusahaan kepada kontraktor stan. Pelajari juga exhibitor manual, untuk mengetahui apa saja dokumen partisipasi yang perlu Anda lengkapi. Bila fair organizer melakukan kegiatan publikasi dan promosi, ikuti juga aktivitas ini.

Bagaimana agar pengunjung yang belum tahu mengenai produk kita itu mau berkunjung ke stan kita?

Menurut Doddy, pengunjung pameran harus diciptakan. Waktu yang lama saat persiapan pameran bisa digunakan untuk mengorganisasikan calon pengunjung.  Sekitar 2-3 bulan sebelum pameran, kirimkan press release ke media, dan visitor mailing untuk pelanggan. Hal ini harus diulangi pada 3-4 minggu sebelum pameran. Visitor mailing dan rencana partipasi perlu diinformasikan kembali ke media.

"Pada hari pertama pameran, paling tidak sudah ada 3 pengunjung yang sengaja Anda datangkan. Setelah itu pengunjung lainnya bisa go show aja," katanya.

 

Buffalo allows Kansas to interview Gill

The University at Buffalo athletic department confirmed on Monday that the school had granted Kansas permission to interview Gill regarding its vacant coaching position. Spokesman Paul Vecchio said he did not know whether the two parties had spoken.

Citing an unidentified source, The Buffalo News reported that Gill met with Kansas officials in New York City on Sunday.

Kansas is searching for a new coach after Mark Mangino resigned Thursday in the wake of an investigation into his treatment of players.

Gill's agent, Steve Mooney, was traveling and not immediately available for comment.

Last week, in wrapping up the Bulls' 5-7 finish, Gill did not rule out the possibility of leaving Buffalo. Though he noted he had not been contacted by another program, Gill said he was interested in only a handful of schools and was otherwise content to stay in Buffalo.

Gill did not specify which schools he might be interested in, though returning to the Big 12 was expected to be high on his radar.

Gill is a former star quarterback at Nebraska and Heisman Trophy finalist, who went on to spend 13 years as an assistant with the Cornhuskers. As a first-time head coach, Gill has gone 20-30 in four seasons at Buffalo, and is credited with bringing new respect to a program that had been a laughingstock since 1999, when it first joined the Mid-American Conference.

In 2008, Gill led the Bulls to an 8-6 finish, their first MAC championship and the school's first bowl appearance, a 38-20 loss to Connecticut in the International Bowl.

Prior to Gill's arrival, the Bulls had gone 10-69 since joining the MAC after previously playing at the Division I-AA level.

Michigan Smoking Ban

 

Michigan Senate today approved a bill that would make the 38th state to ban smoking in public places (FINALLY!). The ban, will be in effect in May 2010, would apply to all restaurants and bars.

All the bill needs is to be passed by the State House and also signed by Governor Jennifer Granholm (we think she will sign it) oh and they all support the ban.

Not a lot of people agree with the ban, including friends who smoke.

I grew up in Michigan ,I remember when Clinton made laws to ban smoking in places. That was in 1994 and I was happy. My dad smoked, my mom smoked. I didn't. I was only 14 years old! Actually I didn't try a ciggy until I was 24 years old and I lived in England. True story. I never lit up a ciggy, tried it three times and HATED it. So glad I am not addicted to ciggy's. They are bad for your lungs, oh and 2nd hand smoke is even worse.

As mentioned, Harden made the exact same amount of starts (51) the past two seasons as Lackey did. Harden did throw noticeably fewer innings in that span, 290 to Lackey's 340, mainly as a result of a difference in approach. Lackey averaged 3.64 pitches per plate appearance the last two seasons, Harden was at 4.11. Strikeouts generally take more pitches to complete so it should come as little surprise to see the difference there. The important thing is note is that Lackey threw a total of 228 more pitches than Harden over 2008-9, the equivalent of one extra start per season.

 

Harden's swinging strike rate is less trendy, partially due to the lack of data points in 2006-7. However, Harden had established a 11% rate in 2003-5 and was at 15% both of the prior two seasons. He would probably demolish Texas' hitters. Harden is also going to walk a good number of fellows. Interestingly enough, Harden's tendency to throw strikes is no worse than Lackey's, both hitting the zone about half the time. Harden is much more often to throw that first pitch for a ball though, but again, that's part of the deal with high strikeout pitchers.

He is also more of a fly ball pitcher than Lackey. Again, Harden is about the strikeouts so pitching up in the zone is part of that most of the time. All of this combines to give us the overall picture of Harden to Lackey, way more strikeouts, a few more walks and a few more fly balls. While Lackey's tRA* floated around 4.4, Harden's is around 4.1 though that came in a less offensive league. The difference between the two in terms of those figures is negligible. CHONE is slightly more bearish, also projecting Harden to be equal to Lackey in performance level, but Lackey's clear inferior in durability.

Even accounting for Harden's higher catastrophic injury risk, he grades out as being worth $12 million or so per year. To compare them directly, Harden's fair value over a four year deal would likely be around 4/44 compared to Lackey's 4/52. That Harden's health knocked that 4/44 down to 1/7.5 with an $11.5 million option is what made him a great target. An opportunity potentially (we don't know what went on, there may have been nothing reasonable Jack Z could have done) missed here and that the Rangers signed him makes it all the more painful.
